In January 2014, Namaskar Yoga will offer a Yoga for Kids! Teacher Training Module designed for yoga teachers, educators, parents and anyone who would like to share the joy of yoga with young people. You do not need to be a yoga teacher to take this workshop;  however, only registered yoga teachers can receive continuing education credit through the International Yoga Alliance for this certification course.   In this 18-hour experiential training we will explore how physical poses (asana), breathing exercises (pranayama), mindfulness and meditation practices, relaxation techniques and yogic philosophy can be adapted to be engaging and effective for different age groups.  With the focus on having fun, you will learn yoga-influenced songs, stories and games to inspire children from preschoolers to adolescents. This workshop will provide practical theory and discussion of age-appropriate teaching techniques as well as active participation in yoga activities for ages 3-16. This training will help you rediscover the playful and creative child that lies within you - by practicing and learning to teach yoga while laughing, playing, dancing and singing! You will come away with immediate tangible knowledge and lots of  ideas for developing your own captivating and fun yoga experiences for young people.  While sharing the joy of yoga you will help children develop life-enhancing skills by introducing practices and philosophy to nurture patience, compassion and happiness in a fun, joyful and non-competitive environment
